Title: Assistant Architect
The Opportunity

The Role
As an Assistant Architect, you will work under the guidance of senior architectural professionals, supporting the delivery of technically sound architectural solutions across a variety of projects. You will assist with the preparation of designs, drawings, calculations and technical documentation while contributing to projects that meet quality, cost and programme objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist in the production of technically sound architectural solutions in line with client requirements and statutory regulations.
- Support the preparation of designs, drawings, calculations and project documentation.
- Work collaboratively with architects, engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver project outcomes.
- Contribute to the production of scheme deliverables while ensuring quality, programme and budget requirements are met.
- Support the application of architectural principles and technical standards within project work.
- Participate in site visits and surveys, including temporary site-based assignments where required.
- Assist with the identification, assessment and communication of project hazards and risks.
- Work in accordance with the Integrated Management System and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
- Support project coordination activities and develop an understanding of the interfaces between different disciplines.
- Undertake general office duties associated with the successful operation of a consulting business.
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues, clients and professional institutions.
- Take ownership of assigned deliverables with appropriate supervision and guidance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by following established processes and identifying opportunities for enhanced efficiency.
- Be willing to work across different accounts, offices or technical disciplines to support professional development.
What you will bring to us:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture accredited to RIBA Part 2 or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Successful completion of RIBA Part 2.
- Associate Membership of RIBA.
- Understanding of architectural theory and principles with the ability to apply them in practice.
- Knowledge of architectural technical and specification processes.
- Competence in relevant design software and analytical tools.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present ideas and technical information clearly.
- Awareness of project commercial considerations.
- Knowledge of suppliers and the services they provide within the built environment sector.
- Understanding of CDM regulations and risk assessment principles.
- Experience managing and communicating hazards and risks on projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships across teams.
- Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and commitments.
- Commitment to professional development and progression towards Chartered Architect status.
Desirable:
- Successful completion of the Amey Graduate Development Programme or a similar early careers development programme.
- Experience gained within a Graduate Architect role or similar architectural position.
- Progress towards RIBA Part 3 qualification.
- Aspiring to achieve registration with the Architects Registration Board (ARB).
- Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments.
- Experience undertaking site-based work and surveys.
Career Development
This role is designed to support progression towards becoming a Chartered Architect. While in the role, you will be expected to work towards achieving the RIBA Part 3 examination, registration with the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and Chartered Membership of RIBA. Opportunities may be provided to gain experience across different accounts, offices and technical disciplines to broaden your professional development.

Nuclear Sector Experience
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience of delivering projects within the nuclear sector or other highly regulated environments. Experience working on nuclear licensed sites, knowledge of nuclear safety culture, and familiarity with relevant regulatory and assurance frameworks will be highly valued. Applicants holding, or working towards, NSQEP (Nuclear Skills Qualification and Experience Passport) recognition are encouraged to apply.
